Two Special Screenings: Girl Rising & Face of Birth
Girl Rising celebrates the actions of young women and shows how their courage is changing the world, piece by piece. This documentary was directed by Academy Award nominee, Richard Robbins, and tells the stories of nine amazing girls from nine different countries. It depicts the power of the human spirit, and the influence education has on a young girl’s fate. Narrated by nine famous actresses, it gives viewers an inside look at the lives and ambitions of these young women.
The movie funds the education of all nine of the young ladies featured in the documentary, and keeps in touch with the girls to give updates of the continued success education is providing for them. Join us at the Moviehouse for this Special Event on Thursday, April 25th at 7:30 PM. Buy your tickets early and join us on the phenomenal adventure of Girl Rising.
Face of Birth
This fundraiser benefits the International Mother Baby Childbirth Organization’s Initiative: 10 Steps to Optimal Maternity Services Worldwide. Face of Birth is a movie about pregnancy that discusses women’s rights to decide where to have her child, be that in a hospital or through a home birth. It shows how women’s rights and choices are limited in some countries, and features intellectual conversations by experts on why it’s better for women to ultimately have that decision.
Robbie Davis-Floyd, an expert in the film, will be joining us afterwards alongside homebirth advocates for a panel discussion immediately prior to the film. Face of Birth is a very informative movie for anyone who is ever thinking about having a child, and anyone who has ever had one. We welcome anyone who is interested to come learn more. The showing will be on Tuesday April the 30th at 11AM, and your ticket includes lunch from a special, pre-set menu and includes a donation toward the organization.
