The Promise

A romantic rivalry lives within the final days of the Ottoman Empire. Brilliant medical student Michael meets a sophisticated dance instructor named Ana in late 1914 in Istanbul. An attraction is sparked between the two when they discover their shared Armenian heritage, which creates a love triangle between Michael, Ana, and her boyfriend, Chris, a talented American photojournalist based in Paris. As the Empire crumbles into chaos, the trio’s conflicting passion must be set aside as they join together to get themselves and their loved ones to safety.

The Promise is directed and co-written by Oscar winner Terry George, known for his work on the film Hotel Rwanda. The film stars Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac as Michael, the bright-eyed medical student. Starring alongside him is The Walk actress Charlotte Le Bon as Ana, opposite Oscar winner Christian Bale as her boyfriend. The film also features the talents of X-Men:The Last Stand actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, Westworld actress Angela Sarafyan, and The Artist actor James Cromwell.
