Detroit

Detroit is the true story of one of the largest race riots in U.S. history. The story centers around the incident at the Algiers Motel in Detroit, Michigan. On June 25, 1967, a police raid left three black men dead, along with seven black men and two white women brutally beaten. Thus began the multi-day, violent riot in the streets of Detroit.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega leads the cast of Detroit as Melvin Dismukes. We’re the Millers actor Will Poulter also stars, alongside BET’s The New Edition actor Algee Smith. Both Poulter and Smith’s performances have been highly praised. Collateral Beauty actor Jacob Latimore and Straight Outta Compton breakout star Jason Mitchell both lend their talents to the historical film. Also a part of the talented cast is the Avenger’s own Anthony Mackie, Game of Thrones actress Hannah Murray, Free Fire’s Jack Reynor, and Men, Women, & Children actress Kaitlyn Dever. John Krasinski also makes an appearance as Attorney Auerbach. Kathryn Bigelow, Oscar-winning director of The Hurt Locker, brings the Detroit riots of 1967 back to life with the help of her Oscar-winning screenwriter and frequent collaborator Mark Boal.
